Bereavement Advice Centre offers a free service to inform up to ten commercial organisations such as banks, building societies, utilities, mortgage and insurance companies about the recent death, saving you time.
Once the companies receive the death notification, they may contact you to request further detailed information as part of their specific processes.
The service provides details of the deceased name, date of death and address and includes no other personal information or account details.
This service is most effective just after the death where there are many things to do and early support in notifying companies may help protect the deceased’s identity from fraud until the full bereavement process is addressed.
To activate this free service you will need to send a copy of the death certificate and be resident in England or Wales.
